I went here on the weekend with a group for dinner. It wasn't busy at all and the service was just right. The ambiance of Sascha's is among the best in Baltimore. Excellent lighting and comfortable, quiet dining.
Crispy breadsticks come complimentary and are a decent snack. The menu is quite restrictive and we had to ask the server to differentiate between small plates and entrees. I would definitely not recommend this menu to families with young children.
I ended up getting the signature burger, which was made quite well and just as I ordered. I was happy with my meal and I would definitely come back.

Did you know Baltimore's Restaurant Week is $30 instead of NYC's $35? I took full advantage by choosing a short rib of beef. It arrived decorated with a parsnip-potato puree which went *with* it but did not complement it. Still, it was fantastic. I offset a heavy, meat-y appetizer with the grilled salmon in a wasabi-lemon risotto. The salmon was lovely and cooked perfectly medium, but the risotto was a bit bland and could have used more wasabi, lemon, or both! The chocolate mousse cake was really large, which was necessary given it wasn't all that rich. I wish I had the carrot cake, which was clearly the restaurant staple, given its Rene Magritte Man-with-pear-in-front-of-face style painting on the wall near the entrance. Our server was excellent and our party of 4 was always being double- or even triple-teamed by the staff so our dishes always arrived at precisely the same time. I had a funny feeling some of the help was Sascha herself and her husband, giving the romantic place an even more intimate feel.

Lunch Review: Saschas is the best deal in Baltimore to my knowledge for lunch. You go through the line and pick from what's behind the glass or you can order from the lunch menu that is posted on the wall. (My only criticism is that this menu is in too small print to easily read and once the lunch rush starts it's awkward for more than one person at a time to read it. SASCHAS: Print pickup menus or put this menu in much larger print!) Aside from this annoyance I highly recommend Saschas for lunch. The food is great. My favorite now is the curried chicken salad, carrots, and roasted vegetables. If you want a small sweet the lemon bars are delicious. What's so remarkable about Saschas lunch is how cheap it is. I always go with a friend and it totals no more than $20-$23 depending of course on exactly what we order. For two people in a beautiful Charles St. restaurant that's a deal! If you can get there before the noon rush as it does get somewhat hectic then. Another tip: often there is more parking in the 400 block of N. Charles than the 500 block and it's a beautiful walk down Charles.
